I hated the grass. I know my MIL, who lives in Texas, loves St. Augustine grass, but it felt so thick and plastic-like to my NY hands and feet, I hated it. There certainly are advantages to Florida climate, but, like you, I'm a 4 seasons girl and the fact that the only time a tree at our house ever lost its leaves was after it was struck by lightning did not go over well for me. But Florida still has a lot to offer. It is cheaper to live there than it is here. It is generally pretty clean. It is not naturally pretty, but most places do a decent job of keeping areas looking nice. There are lots of opportunities for outdoor sports and activities too. There are much worse places to live. Ironically, for me, California would be one of them.

Your body does adjust. My mom spent almost 2 decades and then moved to Maryland.... now she is super sensitive to anything remotely cold.

I live in Maryland and we did buy a few lottery tickets. No luck though. :( Look at it this way - you didn't waste your money. :) We are a county over from Baltimore County where the winning ticket was purchased. I'm still hoping I will know who bought it. lol.Katherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01113818823824140462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-11346041811255347082012-03-31T20:48:36.244-04:002012-03-31T20:48:36.244-04:00I remember those days when 68 seemed really cold! ...I remember those days when 68 seemed really cold! Now I'm positively delirious when it hits the high 50s. I wonder how I am going to adjust to California, it will probably feel very comfortable, because I love the heat.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00074130083673975640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-29020013196603330032012-03-31T10:51:31.411-04:002012-03-31T10:51:31.411-04:00Cam,

Everything you've said here I identify with and have said several times myself.

It's summer now. That's the truth of it. It's summer, and we didn't even have a winter!

Have you heard the joke: "There are four seasons in Florida: Summer, Almost Summer, Still Summer, and Christmas."Christiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18107748184124761940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-5375873417553314042012-03-31T10:21:19.962-04:002012-03-31T10:21:19.962-04:00Ann, I can't say much. My husband on the other hand moved from Colorado to Louisiana to Texas and complains daily. I love the spaces, and the attitudes, and the quirky qualities of the major cities, and I HATE the climate.Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17524883650410009114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-44753665768705328262012-03-31T07:54:23.877-04:002012-03-31T07:54:23.877-04:00I think eventually you may find that 68 sounds col...I think eventually you may find that 68 sounds cold to you. One of my best friends moved to Florida eleven years ago and we would visit (she worked for Disney) and she'd be bundled up in sweaters with a scarf on a 75 degree day. It only took a year or so for her to find what we considered to be warm weather here in NJ to be chilly.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08353696433987975754noreply@blogger.com
