I know lots of moms think expertise can only be found in books or pediatricians, but don't realize other moms *or their own mom or relatives) who have "been there, done that" have a practical knowledge that is worth a world of gold.
What this post shows me is you know your kids, and your gut (lived experience) makes you confident in handling even the most mystifying symptoms. I think one of the values of mommy blogs is to calm the fears of less experienced moms, and let people share insights and solutions to common problems.
Also, I remember reading once that kids become "picky eaters" when their parents don't feed them before age 3 from what the parents are eating. It has something to do with kids learning what tastes are "safe" and what are not, from what the parents are eating. So if the kids never eat normal food (what the parents eat), once they pass about age 3 they won't accept that taste. The theory is that it helps prevent them from eating things that may be poisonous, since the taste is not one they are familiar with. Anyway, if you don't want your kid to be a picky eater, make sure they eat adult food from the time they begin eating solid food.
God bless. ~ BonnieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-67021178157257581842014-09-18T15:31:03.463-04:002014-09-18T15:31:03.463-04:00My children have both been completely different ea...My children have both been completely different eaters. My oldest (2.5 years) loved her vegetable purees and fruits when she was a baby and didn't want real food til about 8 months or so. My second (8 months now) has been eating solids since she was 5 months and hates purees with a passion. She will grab the food out of your mouth and take bites out of it. We discovered this when she was 5 months when my mother was holding her while we were eating and she started taking a bite out of her dinner roll whenever she would take a bite. It was adorable and I still can't believe she eats as much as she does now. She can eat an entire Chick-Fil-A chicken nugget kids meal (cut up of course) already at 8 months!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-63927417181402095022014-09-18T15:27:44.101-04:002014-09-18T15:27:44.101-04:00My first loved her purees and my second (8 months ...My first loved her purees and my second (8 months right now) still hates them and will eat pretty much anything within her reach. She started eating solids at 5 months because she would literally grab it out of your hand and eat it!
I am always amazed at the differences in them everyday! Hope this baby brings you as much joy as your other three!
Jennifer Lockhart, WVAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
