Like they don't read the material before they give it out...especially as the AAP guidelines have been updated and changed...Of when they can't explain the materials that they have jsut given me...We avoid juice (although Hannaber knows that it is and requests it) unless it is "special" but we do V8 for him.Prof. Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15300702154669290410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-10538118524703077112013-03-18T08:08:51.249-04:002013-03-18T08:08:51.249-04:00The handouts baffle me, because it doesn't see...The handouts baffle me, because it doesn't seem like the doctors themselves necessarily agree with them. They always seem happy when we say we're waiting a few more months to introduce any solids. So it makes me wonder if it's some sort of group policy to hand the things out or what. And the juice thing was extra weird, because the girls usually only have juice now on special occasions (okay, not really special occasions. It's usually when I'm out of milk for an extended period of time and haven't gotten to the store and realize we have juice and they get it as a break from water a couple times a month! LOL!). So the idea of giving it to Patrick in a bottle just seemed so weird to me!Cammie Dianehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07137080807945525006noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-12605466382812865392013-03-18T05:12:31.670-04:002013-03-18T05:12:31.670-04:00We have that Moby wrap too!!!
Don't feel too...We have that Moby wrap too!!!

Don't feel too bad about your height. My little brother & sister aren't even in high school and are alrieady taller than me. From the look of how fast my kiddies are growing they'll probably be looking down on their short momma too. lolLynn Readhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04170193179198699078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-2813227655312463192013-03-17T23:33:30.128-04:002013-03-17T23:33:30.128-04:00Man, I so do not get these doctors that are way be...Man, I so do not get these doctors that are way behind the learning curve. Breastfed babies do not need anything other than breastmilk for at least the first 6 months. I'm not sure what part of exclusively breastfed some of these docs don't understand. Good for you for sticking to your guns. BTW apple juice is a horrible thing to give babies as a first other than momma's milk drink because it sets them up to think that all liquids need to be sweet. Far better for them to learn to drink water. There is nothing in apple juice that really adds to their nutrition. Apples yes, once they're big enough to handle them. Apple juice, not so much. The one nutrient that babies start to run out of, that's low in breastmilk is iron, so adding some meat to their diet somewhere after 6 months (it doesn't have to be immediately 7, 8, 9 months works too) is a good idea. We used chicken livers for our kids because they have such a lovely smooth texture and can be cut up into little tiny bites for little tiny fingers to pick up and feed themselves. The iron in those baby cereals is actually less easily assimilated than the iron in meat, and their are some other food sources for iron as well (I do realize that eggs aren't one you'll be giving Patrick anytime soon).Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05127202199834183627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-16837000006720322752013-03-17T22:17:25.616-04:002013-03-17T22:17:25.616-04:00What a gifted seamstress you are! i love the dress...What a gifted seamstress you are! i love the dress and your family is beautiful!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13983299119117118678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8188078120365131355.post-61622071006560590972013-03-17T17:38:30.744-04:002013-03-17T17:38:30.744-04:00Ny 11-yo is now *as tall* as me. She told me to start Elsa on rice cereal at 4 months...which I didn't do. We *just*, *just* started solids at 6 months, and then I just give miniscule little bits of whatever we're having for dinner.

Apple juice at 4 months?
