Today was the sonogram. I was nervous. Really, really nervous.
The first thing I mentioned was that I was wondering if the placenta was anterior because I had only just barely started feeling movement and I've always felt movement really, really early. The words were barely out of my mouth when the sonogram tech told me that it was in fact anterior, right in the front towards the top, and it had been cushioning all the kicks and that's why I hadn't felt anything for so long.
However baby seems to finally be big enough that those days are over and movement has become fairly consistent these last few days.
After that the sonogram went on as usual with lots of measuring. Baby was measuring a few days bigger than my dates, but was definitely within the normal range. Then it was time for the big reveal.
Who was right? Patch was insistent that he was going to have a "brubber" and Sadie was adamant that it was another "princess." Who would win, Team Pink or Team Blue?
I have had a feeling throughout this pregnancy, so far. I thought the baby was a boy, mainly because with the boys I haven't been sick all day long (just bouts of sickness here and there, but not all day nausea), and with the girls I was sick all day and night through the first trimester. I figured that if this was a boy then the pattern would hold true... and did it?
Well... Here's a picture from today's ultrasound. It's actually the clearest picture they could get.
This kid just wouldn't stop moving. Apparently the banana that I ate before coming in for the appointment gave him the wiggles and he was in an incredibly awkward, incredibly wiggly, sideways position. We didn't get a single profile and the 3D feature on the machine wouldn't work because he kept putting his hands over his face.
When I came home and told everyone the news, Patch actually did a little dance around the room and laughed hysterically.
When I asked Sadie if she was okay with it she said: "I don't know. It depends on if the baby is a girl." When I pointed out that we know this baby is a boy, she said: "I know. I'm talking about the next one."
So there you have it. Sadie is already planning for the next baby having given up on this one as a boy, which is so funny to me since she's such a fan of Patch and pretty much fawns over him all day long).
Sadie would also like to name the new baby "Bubble" in honor of Patch's favorite word of the moment. Thankfully, she has no say in the naming...
Finally I guess it's a good thing that I haven't been super organized and that I haven't really packed away our boy clothing! Because Baby #4 is going to be wearing it before too long!
Congrats Cammie! Haha...love the pic. I think it could be part of the abdomen but it's hard to tell. I say leave out the duck so we can really see for ourselves *winks*.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear the baby is healthy and active : )
Aww! Congratulations!! That is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I bet Patch will love having a brother. I'm sure Sadie will be just as smitten with your new little guy as she is with Patch, even if he's not a princess.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is wonderful! Congratulations!! I am really glad Patrick will have a "brubber" and won't be dominated by girls. But watch out! What a team they'll make getting into mischief against the girls!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know.
God Bless. ~ Bonnie
