Home Sweet Home: Safe For Now...

We just got home from a beautiful wedding (one of my best friends from college)! We made the two hundred and fifty mile back from San Francisco and while we haven't yet faced unpacking the bags and beginning the rounds of laundry that will follow, we are thankful to have made the trip safe and sound. We had one little scare a few hours into the trip. A big rig ran us off of the road (I could see his face in the side mirror as he did, so we definitely were not in his blind spot) and Paul slammed on the brakes and veered off the pavement just in time to keep us from hitting the end of an upcoming bridge (our guardian angels were working overtime today!).

While I was in and out of the wedding with Maggie (who suddenly decided to be awake and a little fussy) one of my favorite parts of the use of this verse in the bride's vows:

"Entreat me not to leave you or to return from following you; for where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God; where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if even death parts me from you."

Ruth 1:16-17

Ruth was my favorite book of the Bible when I was eight years old and this particular verse was one of my favorite parts of my favorite books. I'll admit it was one of the many times I was a little teary eyed during the service!

Now I'm going to try to get a little sleep. I've been having daily migraines for a while now, and this last week they've changed quite a bit: they've become the type of migraines with sparks in front of my eyes and vertigo. The vertigo had me kind of panicked, until I did some googling and discovered that it isn't an uncommon migraine symptom apparently (the vertigo is lasting in waves around the clock even when there's no headache). So tomorrow I am calling the clinic in town to see if I can get an appointment. And hopefully this migraine will not be the kind that lasts through a night's sleep...

  1. That is a lovely verse! Ruth was always one of my favorites too.

Hope you get help for those migraines. Mommies can't afford to be sidelined by those. I'll be praying for you.

I love comments and I read every single comment that comes in (and I try to respond when the little ones aren't distracting me to the point that it's impossible!). Please show kindness to each other and our family in the comment box. After all, we're all real people on the other side of the screen!
