I have a personal favorite.
And we'd love to hear your opinion too if you have a favorite (or a least favorite as the case may be!).
Paul told me to note that the poll isn't binding (I'm pretty sure everyone figured that out!), but it should be fun!
And there's good news!
Paul was accepted to his first law school today! He won't let me tell you who it is yet, but hopefully I will be able to soon!
It's going to be nice to finally know where we're headed. I can hardly wait to find out. The waiting to know what's next is definitely the hard part right now! Apparently I'm being given time to work on the virtue of patience!
Would it be selfish for me to vote for Saint Louis University? Because that would mean I would get to meet you and probably hang out with you a lot. :-D
ReplyDeleteLOL! I would be so thrilled if we ended up there because I think I'd already know three people from the Catholic-Mommy-Blogging World! And that would be pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing...having been to law school and worked with that whole field....his choice should be to go to the highest ranked law school he can get into. Unless he's going to practice patent law - in that case he should go to Santa Clara. Otherwise, go to the highest ranked schools. On your list that would be: Boston, Georgetown and Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had something positive to contribute, but as someone who does not like living in Washington, D.C. I have to be honest with you! I struggle every day with the rudeness and ultra-political thinking that surround me.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, do you remember when a man in a suburb of D.C. held everyone hostage at the Discovery Channel headquarters because he had an agenda of preventing any more "breeding" of "parasites," e.g. children, in the world? Local news stations interviewed people on the street, and they said things like "Well, I agree with the bomber's message..." Only in D.C. will you find that kind of opinion shared by the general public without anyone batting an eyelash.
My fiance and I are both from kinder, gentler, saner places and we are both counting down the days until we can leave. That said, Catholic and Georgetown are great schools, and I'm sure you'll find a marvelous community-within-a-community if you do move here!
I selfishly voted for Villanova. I have family members who went there, and it's not too far off from where we live. I'd be happy to meet up with you at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and fun places like that if you wind up on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same thing as The Catholic Wife. :) If I voted for selfish reasons, I'd definitely go with SLU. But for a good Catholic school, I would guess Ave Maria. Chicago is close to St. Louis too. Only about 5 hours driving time... :)
ReplyDeleteThere's also a wonderful Latin Mass parish run by the Institute of Christ the King in St. Louis. We went to Mass there a few years ago when we were in the area for my niece's wedding (wedding wasn't there). The sermon (definitely not a homily) was one of the best I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteUmmm I vote St. Thomas! That's by me! My SIL went there for her undergrad, it's a great school, but expensive!
ReplyDeleteI, too, was going to say St. Louis so we could drive out there and go to Mass at St. Francis de Sales...and meet you! :-)
ReplyDeleteI voted for CUA so that you can move to Hyattsville, MD and join in with the neighborhood Catholic Moms group... There are lots of us grad school wives and babies within a few blocks:) Last night we had our monthly book club on "A Right to be Merry" by Mother Mary Francis P.C.C. and next month it's "The Privilege of Being a Woman" by Alice Von Hildebrand. -Colleen
ReplyDeleteSaint Thomas in MN!!!! Sorry, I didn't actually go there, but I am taking the bar in MN. I think they are a good school, and I am pretty sure the school I am attending is more expensive. =)
ReplyDelete^^ What Liz said! That's where I go for Mass. Every single sermon blows me away. What do you say, Cam? We have an amazing treasure of orthodoxy here in St. Louis Come to the Rome of the West!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi, This is my first comment I've written on your blog (though I found it a while back and enjoy reading it). I thought I should chime in with my personal experience-- though I only attended for a semester before I realized law school wasn't for me-- I would devote much thought and prayer to the matter before I chose USD. While I never experienced anything in blatant opposition to the Church during my brief stay there, I never experienced anything from the administration, student groups or individual members of the student body promoting the Church either. In fact, the law school felt like a completely secular environment. -Erica
