A Woman's Place... On Facebook!

After quite a bit of time figuring out how to make a facebook page for my blog and add a "like box" (it was making the like box that had me so confused!) it's finally here! It's on the right hand side as another way to keep updated!

  2. How did you make a fan page for your blog? I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this for my blog. Also, are you able to keep the fan page separate from your regular facebook account?

  3. Congrats on getting it set up! I will click that hard-earned 'like' button. I'd be interested in the answer to Karen's question too.

  4. Hi Karen-

I actually logged out to set it up and went to the facebook page because I wasn't sure how it would work. I then went to the "create a page" link below the "sign up for facebook" info and clicked on it. It brings up six choices and after realizing that none of them really fit, I picked the "create a page for a band, artist or public figure" and then clicked on "writer" (which seemed more accurate than "author."

At one point it asked me if I wanted to link it to an existing facebook account and I did. The only problem I would see with not linking it to your real account was that at one point they said that I had to be "verified" in order to post the link on my blog (I think for the "like box"). That's when they check your cell phone or credit card info to see if it's really you before letting you do something.

Then the real fun began because, once the page was set up, I just couldn't figure out how to make the URL for the page work with the code for the blog "like box". I finally found this article ( http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=111285208912609 ) which explained that the numbers in the address were the facebook id and that that was what you use to make the whole like box gadget work.

From there I just copied and pasted it up here and that's pretty much it.

Oh and I realized that making Paul and admin was a mistake when he figured out that he could post as me and, after leaving the room for all of five seconds I noticed he begun posting, starting with "I have the best husband ever!" I decided to un-make him an administrator so he could post as himself instead of my blog!

Hope that helps anyone who wants to set an account up! It took a little trial and error so if you follow these steps it should definitely go more quickly!

  5. To make a page on Facebook is a good idea, it adds exposure. And you could gain a lot of readers too.

I love comments and I read every single comment that comes in (and I try to respond when the little ones aren't distracting me to the point that it's impossible!). Please show kindness to each other and our family in the comment box. After all, we're all real people on the other side of the screen!
