Say It's Not the Swine Flu...

I didn't expect the swine flu to hit our area so quickly. I imagined that it would take a while and that people would start getting sick in October or November. But the flu isn't waiting for the vaccines to be ready and it's here now.

I had heard that a lot of people were sick in town but for some reason which is entirely beyond me, it never popped into my head that it was the H1N1 virus. I'm not sure what I thought it was, but the swine flu was some scary virus that was not here yet. However now that more than half of our local high school is out sick with it, I'm going to have to face the truth: the swine flu has hit our county and I have been feeling sick all day. It started with a sore throat, a headache and nausea, all of which hit last night right before bed and has progressed to feeling incredibly dizzy, particularly when I move (not good for a mom with a toddler).

Paul called from work to tell me that he was coming down with something too, and as Sadie just got sick (although I'm hoping it was from the ridiculous amount of spaghetti she ate for dinner) I think I would be serious denial if I were to say that our house hasn't been effected yet. I am still hoping that Sadie doesn't get sick at all and remembering all those books I read about antibodies being in breastmilk very quickly after the mother is exposed to a virus.

I've had tons of ideas for blog posts these last few days but I've been so exhausted and now I'm starting to understand why. Hopefully I'll wake up tomorrow and everyone will be fit and well.

  1. Oh, I hope you aren't all sick! I will keep you in my prayers

  2. I'll say a prayer that you all recover quickly. Don't panic, as it has generally proven to be a fairly mild flu, barring pre-existing health issues (heart, etc.) God bless!

I love comments and I read every single comment that comes in (and I try to respond when the little ones aren't distracting me to the point that it's impossible!). Please show kindness to each other and our family in the comment box. After all, we're all real people on the other side of the screen!
