Two nights ago, Paul was working the late evening/early night shift, so Sadie and Mae and I were alone during the family rosary. About half way through Sadie began responding (with her own little response) after I said the first half of each Hail Mary. It sounded like this:
Me: "Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus."
Sadie: "Holy Mary, Mother Mary!"
Me: "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death."
So last night, when Sadie was joyfully making the sign of the cross over and over again I proudly told Paul that Sadie was learning another prayer. She sat in her little booster seat and glowed at the words. So I began again and said the first half of the prayer and then paused. She continued and said:
"Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us mumble, mumble, mumble... now and at the... mumble, mumble, mumble... Aaaaaaaaaaaaa-Meeeeeeeeeen!"
Daddy: "That's very good sweetie!"
Sadie: (looking at me): "Again!"
She also says the majority or the Lord's Prayer, if I'll prompt her by saying the first few words of each verse. It sounds something like this:
Me: "Our Father"
Sadie: "Who art in heaven!"
Me: "Hallowed be thy-"
Sadie: "Name!"
Me: "Thy-"
Sadie: "Kingdom come!"
Me: "Thy-"
Sadie: "Will be done!"
Me: "On Earth"
Sadie: "As is in Heaven!"
And we go on in that way, with her stumbling over but saying "temptation" and "trespasses."
She's also taken to answering my interview questions "for Mae Babe." They go something like this:
Me: "Who is God's son?"
Sadie: "God!"
Me: "Um... okay... I guess that's right... But what's his name?"
Sadie: "Jesus!"
Me: "Who is the Mother of God?"
Sadie: "Mary!"
Sadie prays just like Susi! What a fun age! I sent the package with the aprons off this morning. Congrats on Paul being accepted at Ave Maria. That is such exciting news!
