My Almost Forgotten Christmas Surprise

In the midst of the ice storm and Christmas and the polar vortex and going outside to shovel snow only to discover five minutes later that the city had suspended mandatory snow shoveling because it was just too cold to be out there (it was -19 windchill when I was shoveling) I completely forget that, prior to all that, my parents had given me a gift card and that gift card had turned into my dream wardrobe, in the form of four dresses that I'd immediately ordered from a company in England (through Amazon).   Later, when the power had gone off, I'd worried and fretted about the practical things that I could have done, had I known what was ahead of us... but at the time no power for eight days wasn't even a dream I would have entertained and so I went and scrolled through the retro dresses I'd been dreaming off and picked a few out.

I almost forgot about it until it arrived today and I saw that the package said that it was from England and after a few moments of though I realized what it was.

And suddenly Mae was trying to take of her sweatshirt because the dress of her dreams had just arrived... and if you were wondering, the dress of her dreams is apparently red with white polka dots:

This one is actually my favorite.  It is so sturdy (at the moment that's the highest praise I can think of for a dress that I also think is pretty):

This one looks blue but I'm 99% sure that it's actually black:

This one was Mae's favorite for me to wear (she would have liked me to put this on and let her abscond with the red I guess).  She kept hugging me and wanting to me to carry her when I tried it on:

And that is my totally random third post of the day... now to start sewing!

  3. Okay, those are about the CUTEST dresses I have ever seen! I mean it. I would buy any ONE of them. I love these styles. But I'm with Mae: I love the red polka dot one best, and my next favorite is the black/navy blue one.
How wonderful to get a "surprise" package and open a gift that you forgot was coming. I think that is the most fun ever! God bless. ~ Bonnie
P.S. I guess you're gonna have to make a red polka dot dress for Mae, and hide yours!

  5. Nice! Super cute. Classy, yet fun and hip! It's hard to strike a balance between "appropriate" and "attractive" when it seems like everything is either dumpy and matronly or tarty and revealing. These strike the perfect balance - rare to find. Love them!

  6. Love them all, but the last is my favorite. What is the name of the company?

I love comments and I read every single comment that comes in (and I try to respond when the little ones aren't distracting me to the point that it's impossible!). Please show kindness to each other and our family in the comment box. After all, we're all real people on the other side of the screen!
